For Students, Staff, and Faculty
General Services
Printing & Scanning
Students, staff and faculty can print in black and white or colour for free.
Students can also scan documents, either to print immediately or to email to themselves (the scanner can be set to send scanned materials to an email of your choice - ask the circulation staff for assistance).
Makerspace Services
Although walk-ins are always welcome, due to short staffing, we kindly request that you make an appointment to ensure access. For safety and security, the makerspace is always locked. For questions about our makerspace, please get in touch with our Library Technicians, Randy Chenowith or Shania Sola. Information about our Makerspace Policy can be found here.
Laminating
Students must schedule a time to use the laminator and are responsible for their own laminating. If you are unsure about how to use the laminator, please ask a staff member for assistance. The maximum size for laminating is 9 x 11.5 inches. The cost to laminate is $0.30/per sheet.
Poster Printing
Poster printing services are available for the following prices:
- $1.75/ft for a maximum width of 24 inches
$2.75/ft for a maximum width of 36 inches
3D Printing
All students have a $5 credit per semester to use the 3D printer in the makerspace. The cost is dependent on the file size and the complexity of the print.
Circut Machine
Paper crafts and assignments
Although bringing your own materials is highly recommended, students are welcome to use paper from the makerspace's locker drawers to make items with the Cricut.
Stickers
To make stickers with the Cricut machine, the cost is $2 per sheet (regular 8.5 x 11 sticker paper).
Sewing Machine
Students are responsible for providing their own materials.
VR Headset
The VR headset is available for loan for 2 days.
For the Community
Community members are welcome to use our library; however, they must obtain a TAL card from their local library. TAL card holders can check out five books at a time.
The community can use computers. Black-and-white photocopying is free, but we charge 50 cents per colour page. Scanning may also be used as outlined above. Ask at the desk for a temporary User ID and login.
Getting Books from Burman
If you do not live in the community but still need to get a book from us, you may ask the librarians for assistance (email library@burmanu.ca) or place a hold on it through www.talonline.ca.
